Infidelity Therapy in Union

Are You Dealing With Infidelity In Your Relationship?

Are you burdened by the discovery or disclosure of intimate injuries, boundary-breaking, and infidelity?

Has it become impossible to handle the hurts you are experiencing from the betrayal?

If your partner has betrayed you, your whole world is shattered. Do you wonder how your relationship can move on after this?

You likely wonder how you can live with this, how you could ever go on, and if you should stay or go. Worst of all, you wonder how you can ever trust them again.

Navigating A Relationship Betrayal Can Be Traumatic

Maybe you still can’t believe it, or you sort of knew something was going on all along. It’s like a bombshell has been dropped in your lap. The pain, hurt, and anger have all flooded in at the same time as you try to wrap your mind around what happened.

Dealing with infidelity can make you feel crazy, anxious, enraged, and helpless all at the same time. Perhaps you and your partner have already tried to discuss the situation and figure out how to move forward. For most couples, this is the hardest, most overwhelming time of all.

You may want—desperately—to accept the apology and move forward. And yet, something inside you won’t settle. This isn’t stubbornness. It’s your system saying something important hasn’t been understood or repaired yet.

By now, you’ve realized that just “talking” about it over and over doesn’t make anything better, and you’d be right. For most couples, it is too big and too painful, but meeting with an infidelity recovery specialist in therapy can help the pain and the trauma begin to heal the right way.

Why Did This Happen To Us? Why Did They Do This To Me?

Even without infidelity or betrayal, long-term relationships are demanding for most couples. We ask one person to be our partner, confidant, emotional support, and lover, while trying to achieve all our other goals as a couple. When connection strains, communication tends to get rough or non-existent and sets our relationship up to all sorts of challenges, some that even threaten the relationship itself.

We aren’t helped by friends, family, or society in general. So many couples are told, “Just leave,” by those who are hurting for them. Our loved ones don’t understand that with the right help, most couples can repair their intimate wounds and work to build a new, more secure relationship so that this never happens again.

Recovering From Infidelity Is A Tough Job To Try On Your Own

No matter what a couple has been through, it’s harder to heal from infidelity because of the breach of their secure bond. Without repairing their secure bond by reaching out for counseling after an affair, most couples go round and round in pain as they try again and again to have these heartbreaking conversations.

Most couples, if they had quality help repairing, could figure out how to create a different relationship. Trying to heal a marriage by speaking with an infidelity counselor before breaking a family apart is a worthy first step. The emotional cost of splitting a family up is sometimes an even heavier mental burden to bear than infidelity.

Infidelity counseling, especially in an intensive format, can provide the chance to repair the injuries, find out why this happened, and learn how to build security. Even if you are unsure whether your relationship will make it, we must accurately assess the viability after the repair process

Infidelity Therapy Intensives Can Help Repair Your Relationship

For nearly thirty years, I have been helping couples navigate the ups and downs of relationship life involving betrayals, affairs, and breaches of boundaries. As a specialist in relationships, I can help you address the emotional intensities and deep hurt of infidelity in the safest and most useful ways to promote repair and recovery for you both.

I offer exclusively couples therapy intensives that take place over half a day, a full day, or two full days with ongoing supportive sessions.

Couples need the time and space to have the important conversations of healing in a safe and guided space.  Infidelity therapy is not a forgive-and-forget process; it is a structured, evidence-based approach designed specifically for betrayal trauma.

Our Goal Is Straightforward

My role as your therapist is to help you feel guided through what may seem impossible and support you as you do the hard work of repairing betrayal from infidelity.

We don’t just scratch the surface and leave the hurt to rise again and again, either. Recovery from an affair through counseling requires exploring important topics and questions in order to fully tell the story, so you both can understand the pain it has caused. It also involves taking accountability for the event and acknowledging the regrets one or both of you have.

This process is supported and guided by the use of communication skills that encourage grounded responses, measured tones, and powerful yet secure expression of the hurts one or both of you experience.

I Use Modalities You Can Trust

A therapeutic environment provides the safety and security to help couples put forth their best efforts with something as sensitive as relationship betrayal. During couples therapy intensives for infidelity, we will explore:

    • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT): A structured, evidence-based approach designed to treat the deep attachment trauma caused by affairs. It focuses on creating safety, rebuilding broken trust, and processing intense emotions.
    • The Gottman Assessment for Couples: A research-based process designed to help couples in therapy navigate the crisis of an affair and recovery through Gottman’s Trust Revival Methods.
    • Trauma-informed therapy for infidelity: This treats betrayal as a traumatic event, addressing PTSD-like symptoms such as hypervigilance, intrusive thoughts, and emotional dysregulation rather than just relationship issues.

Even though you and your partner are facing huge hurdles ahead in your journey, committing to therapy before making big decisions about the future of your relationship gives you a great chance to preserve the love you share. Healing infidelity in therapy isn’t a one-and-done appointment, nor is it easy, but with the right support, relief from pain and moving forward is possible. I have seen couples gain security to help calm overwhelming emotions, rebuild safety and trust, and guide them toward clarity and meaningful connection, and I can’t wait to do the same for you.

You Might Still Have Questions Or Concerns About Infidelity Therapy…

I am skeptical about the effectiveness of therapy for infidelity.

When you engage in effective infidelity therapy, it starts by slowing things down to create emotional safety, so that honesty can come forward. Infidelity therapy helps you and your partner understand what’s happened on a deeper level. It’s important to know why the injured partner is feeling hyper-vigilant, angry, numb, or stuck. It’s also important to understand why the involved partner committed the betrayal or boundary breaking so that the couple can protect their relationship from further injuries.

I am worried that talking about our issues in therapy will make things worse.

When things are very fragile and tense, the idea of looking honestly at your relationship and the situation can feel terrifying. Many couples are worried that if they talk about the boundary breaking or the betrayal, it is just going to ignite fights and cause pain and push them further apart.

Couples come to therapy after infidelity with exactly this fear because they have not been able to share and talk about what happened. The path to repair is to speak to a trusted third party who has the experience to guide you effectively.

How much experience do you have as an infidelity therapist?

I offer intensive couples infidelity therapy because it is different from traditional talk therapy. Traditional counseling can help with communication, stress, anxiety, depression, and grief—kind of like going to your general doctor.

Infidelity, however, is different because this isn’t just a relationship problem. Betrayal is a trauma to the connection, trust, and security between persons, with swells of emotions, from feeling crushed to being afraid, feeling betrayed, and rejected at each new turn. I’ve spent thirty years working with couples who are in the midst of this kind of crisis, and I can help you and your partner on the healing path to the next chapter.
